Dr. Chenoa Orme-Stone is a cellist and music educator based in Santa Barbara, California, known for her expressive playing and commitment to innovative, inclusive approaches to classical music.
Her teaching studio serves students of all ages and levels, many of whom have won prizes in regional and national competitions and gone on to leading conservatories including The Juilliard School. She has held leadership roles with organizations such as Junior Chamber Music, and has adjudicated competitions, taught masterclasses, coached chamber ensembles, and led string workshops across the country.
Chenoa grew up in Seattle, Washington, where she fell in love with the cello at age four. She earned her Bachelor of Music from Indiana University and her Master of Music from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where she performed with the Diamond Ensemble, Copenhagen Philharmonic, and Royal Danish Opera. She completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she served as a Teaching Assistant for cello and orchestra and performed in the graduate fellowship quartet. Her principal teachers included Emilio Colón, Morten Zeuthen, Marc Coppey, Jennifer Kloetzel, and Rajan Krishnaswami, and she has performed in masterclasses for world-renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma, David Geber, Martin Menking, Chu Yi-Bing, and members of the Danish String Quartet and the Juilliard String Quartet.
Beyond music, Chenoa enjoys storytelling in all its forms, volunteering at the local animal shelter, and hunting down the best vegan tacos.
